The letdown was unfortunate, considering that "Thy Womb" actually had a very good story. As Thomas begins to reach the proximate age of his original self, the emotional intensity reaches an expectedly excruciating apex; nothing if not an original story of unrequited love for Rebecca has essentially loved Thomas twice , Eva Green's committed performance brings commanding visceral impact to the table. Fliegauf works skillfully within the constraints, however, and cinematographer Pete Szatmari provides evocative images of nature's power and mutability on a northern seashore. But their passionate relationship is short-lived when Tommy is killed in a freak car accident. Her reaction to the initial accident itself avoids histrionics and instead measures quiet agony, while the fleeting appearances of Thomas' parents Lesley Manville and, funnily enough, her 'Another Year' co-star, Peter Wright are wonderfully played and give the film a haunting power, especially when Thomas' mother glances upon the clone, lost for words. Instead, Fliegauf urges us to venture down the rabbit hole with him and consider the situation on its own acceptable terms; it is a scripting sidestep delicate enough not to seem cheap or lazy. Ultimately, it's the arrival of an older woman that threatens Rebecca and Tommy's womblike existence. Their reunion is marked by a strong mutual attraction. Director Mendoza intertwines very colorful scenes of daily Badjao life and culture to beef up the sparse story line, creating a brilliant visual spectacle that would educate us about how our Badjao countrymen live. Rebecca gives Tommy a new life, yet Fliegauf focuses as much on decay as on regeneration. Probably not the most desirable or inexpensive short-term resolution to this dilemma, but in the long run. The result lands somewhere in between, muddled and noncommittal; too abstract to suggest a coherent moral lesson, but too remote to foster a satisfying emotional connection, Womb feels barren, an attempt to do too much that ultimately does very little. Most, or at least those who stayed, probably came away feeling the night could have been better spent in merrier pursuits instead.

Trouble is, they are very seldom seen and the movie seems more interested in scenery than plot or character and the pacing seems to move at the speed of a bowel movement made by my 72-year-old grandfather. Shot in Germany by a Hungarian with an English-speaking cast, the movie is more akin to 2004's Birth. She succeds and then we follow the new Thomas with his overprotective mom for about twenty years.
The stay is short, but the bond permanent. The setting in which the film takes place is some sort of loners heaven, so isolated and peaceful. Tommy throws his mother on the bed in confusion, and asks her who he is and why she did what she did. The next day, Tommy packs his things, then addresses Rebecca by her first name and not "Mom" and thanks her for the life he's had. By the time she utters the words that become the turning point in what was until then a meandering narrative, the conclusion of the movie had become predictable.
I put the blame on the Director who obviously gave bad direction in scenes. The sun, the sea, the whale sharks, the quarter moon were captured in their glorious beauty. A middle-aged childless Moslem Badjao woman named Shaleha Nora Aunor living in Tawi-tawi finds a suitable second wife for her husband Bangas-An Bembol Roco to have a child of his own, unmindful of the consequences this decision might impose on her. The emotional plausibility with which the situation is considered, is brilliantly, heartbreakingly realised; Rebecca's uncomfortable intimacy with a childhood version of her former lover provides her with unprecedented access to what appears to be her lover's life in fact, obviously, it is just his genetic code , making her a better, more protective mother, and a far creepier love interest. In the end, instead of empathizing with the lead character for the tragedy that befalls her, the viewer feels numb. This movie shows us that the plot need not be too complicated in order for it to be of artistic merit.

A desperate Rebecca, distraught without Thomas, uses his DNA to impregnante herself with his clone, which she then raises as her son.
