It is about striving to be the best that you can be and accepting who you are even if you fall short. Deagan, a deliciously officious Allison Janney, Guy lets his guard down a bit with 10-year-old Chaitanya Chopra the excellent Rohan Chand , an Indian rival he calls Slumdog. I almost never like stories within a story, now do I like stories about authors or actors, they always seem so navel-gazing, but this movie trumps all of those problems in such an amazing excellent way. Rory decides to pass the manuscript off as his own, retyping it and bringing it to the publishing house he works for. He was married, happily, but he was becoming discouraged and still occasionally borrowing money from his dad to pay the rent. The true price of falsely claiming a work of art is yours isn't the guilt that you didn't write it, its the realization that you could never create it on your own. If you aren't willing to put some brain power and attention into the movie, you will be like all the rest of the nay-sayers.

Interesting plot-structure: No huge twists or surprises, but everything fits together with slow, subtle tension. A masterful telling of an intriguing situation with wonderful acting and believable emotions that, at both levels, tugged at my heart strings. Then again, the whole ending is nothing but evasion. Movieguide® has fought back for almost 40 years, working within Hollywood to propel uplifting and positive content. Coy and sleazy in mood, and ultimately woefully obscuring, this final layer is the raincoat a stripper throws on before scampering off the stage, having teased but never getting down to brass tacks. Even for the latter folks, I would also recommend SHATTERED GLASS 2004 , starring Hayden Christensen, which has a similar conflict, a faster pace, and generally better acting. The multiple stories come to a head, Klugman and Sternthal see no clear way to wrap them all up, and so they shoot off in a completely different direction before quickly cutting to black, hoping the rapid dramatic shifts will work as a narrative sleight of hand.

It automatically deprioritizes the story we have invested in, causing immediate frustration and unwanted disorientation. He still manages to have a great Manhattan apartment shared with a supportive sophisticate in Dora Zoe Saldana, beautifully polished for the part. Then, however, he accidentally runs into the actual writer, an old man who tells Rory how he lost the manuscript. And after how clearly everything is explained in the rest of the film, the finale leaves things confusingly ambiguous. It's just a bad hollow movie with a stellar cast and that's all.

Whether redemption is even possible when the betrayal is so absolute — yourself, everyone you care about and even a stranger on a train. By publishing Window Tears Clay made a name of himself and that name helped him to get his own books published. Almost everyone that i have spoken to that have seen this movie have their own little twists on the story and how it comes together. An infant's death is devastating to his parents. In addition to an elevated storyline, the Old Man's account in the movie adds a deeper visual element to the film. It was meant to put a twist on the story within the story, to make the viewer think and wonder, but it was mostly a distraction, and the acting was far inferior to the other two levels. For the first portion of this film, the theme appears to be literary plagiarism.

And if you see this, oh, let's not be so harsh. It artistically portrays the realistic and unavoidably consequences of life and it does it to some of the finest music composed. From here, the film skips back and forth between the fictional Rory and Dora Jansen, and the story of their creator, Clay Hammond. Still, there are other references to Hemingway throughout the film — deeper analysis should reveal some thematic importance. Another detail the filmmakers overlook is in their use of Montreal as a double for New York City. . But its romance can also rankle.

Despite an exposition-heavy outer layer, The Words delivers on two out of the three narrative threads that it presents and offers a somewhat thought-provoking and evocative meditation on truth - especially for anyone with an appreciation for literary writing. I often walk past the house where Hem and Pauline had their flat in the Rue Ferou in Paris long before Man Ray lived in the same small street.

The Words Movie Review: Oh What a Tangled Web They Weave
Cooper, Saldana, and Barnes achieve credibility and have some strong moments, and Irons, with his acting formidable talents, brings a hint of tragedy and pathos that is missing from this sketchiest of character. At the end of his rope, Rory is forced again to borrow money from his loving father. If you write, if you draw, if you create anything that makes you proud that you did it, share it, if not you will regret it for the rest of your life, that was the true message of this film. The manuscript is beautiful, a masterful work of art that would propel the writer to immediate stardom. Do we know anything else about her at all? Ambiguity can work, but this attempt at it felt less like ambiguity, this actually felt like an ending started being written, then the writer got distracted and completely forgot about concluding it. The film will also have trouble living up to the competition come Oscar season, but it delivers an entertaining and appealing film on the first weekend of fall award season releases. Clay Hammond Dennis Quaid is a successful novelist whose latest book, The Words, is being heralded as a brilliant work of fiction.

Movie review: 'The Words' can't add up to much of a film
The pretty face is now Ben Barnes and what a great face it is. However, the third level added very little, or should I say distracted from the rest. The point is that by the time Rory becomes desperate enough to make a dangerous, life-altering decision, the audience is already lost in character inconsistencies and illogical plotting. It will haunt my dreams forever. Jansen struggles with what he should do with the masterpiece he's found. And the overall moral is that each of us runs up against things in our lives that may not be ideal, but somehow we have to get past it and deal with it. Other profanity is scattered throughout the movie, namely the S-word and BS.
