The appeal to New Orleans bands may have lain in "Araby" sharing the same pronunciation as Arabi, Louisiana, a town downriver from New Orleans' 9th Ward and a center for gambling just outside city limits until the early 1950s. Mohamet promises her he will help her escape and brings on Magnolia, a big scantily dressed black dancing girl. I highly recommend anyone seeing this film to view the Sheik first since you will get many more of the jokes that way. He meets Presto at a palm tree and asks him to magic up a pond of fish. This is a great shame since he was also one of the funniest.
