My Name is Khan is a 2010 Indian drama film directed by Karan Johar and starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles. The film tells the story of Rizwan Khan, a Muslim man with Asperger's syndrome who embarks on a journey across the United States to meet the President of the United States and tell him that "my name is Khan, and I am not a terrorist."

The film begins with Rizwan, played by Shah Rukh Khan, growing up in India with his mother and brother. Rizwan is diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism, and struggles to fit in with his peers. Despite this, he is a kind and compassionate person, always striving to help those in need.

After his mother passes away, Rizwan moves to the United States with his brother and his brother's family. There, he meets and falls in love with Mandira, a Hindu single mother played by Kajol. The two get married and have a son, but their relationship is strained by the events of 9/11 and the subsequent backlash against Muslims in the United States.

One day, while Mandira is at work, Rizwan's son is diagnosed with a severe case of asthma and is rushed to the hospital. In the chaos, Rizwan is wrongly accused of being a terrorist and is arrested. This event sets off a chain of events that leads Rizwan on his journey to meet the President and prove his innocence.

Throughout his journey, Rizwan faces numerous challenges and prejudices, but he remains determined and optimistic. He meets a diverse group of people along the way, including a kind-hearted Indian American couple and a group of Hispanic immigrants, who all help him on his journey.

One of the standout aspects of the film is the performance of Shah Rukh Khan as Rizwan. Khan perfectly captures the vulnerability and innocence of a man with Asperger's, and his performance is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Kajol is also excellent as Mandira, portraying a woman torn between her love for her husband and her fear for his safety.

Overall, My Name is Khan is a poignant and powerful film that tackles important themes of love, family, and acceptance. It is a must-see for anyone interested in social issues or simply in search of a moving and emotionally resonant story.

It also allows Shah Rukh Khan to display his talent to an even wider audience. . But, here his character, Rizwan, suffers from this syndrome which gives Shah Rukh completely different material to deal with. This has a certain Capra-esque quality so it might have worked, but the linchpin to his redemption seems to be a poor rural and black county set in the Deep South that defies any credibility whatsoever. One understands him, his thought process and his issues.

The final half is like a completely different film. Brought such a warm and yet sad smile. . . . There is no indication at first about his disability, then in line to board the flight he is detained for two reasons, one he is acting oddly and speaking in a foreign tongue and because he is also very strikingly in resemblance to a middle eastern Muslim, which he is. Actually as the main emphasis shifts onto the theme of meeting the President, the film takes an unexpected turn and goes over the top to some extent.

Dialogue: Niranjan Iyengar and Shibani Bathija have demystfied contemporary strife with polish, restraint and research. If it affects you, it's better you react. . Muslims, now seen as idols of evil, devastates the life of Rizwan. This is a great three hour movie and every minute of it is a gem, so be prepared for an emotional roller-coaster. Why does he go off on this journey? Choosing a protagonist who suffers from Asperger's Syndrome seems to be a deliberate move on the part of the film maker and it works like a master stroke. At times it was difficult to believe it was actually directed by Johar and written by Shibani Bathija, who finally proves considerable talent as a writer.

. Kajol's Mandira is a complete winner, with the actor pitching in such a restrained act in one of the most difficult scenes of the film, she simply blows you away. . The film pictures Americans as unable to tell the differences between Muslims and Hindus or Arabs and Indians. Can you imagine Kajol sounding screechy? Is it because in movies everything is possible? Thumbs up, by Taran Adarsh,.

Movie Review of 'My Name is Khan'

He suffers from a form of autism; asperger's syndrome but that doesn't stop him from differentiating between good and bad and mind you he is a genius and has a pretty good memory. The story of Rizvan Khan a Muslim man with Asperger's syndrome who in fact one of the most beautiful human beings I could think of real or fictitious, perfect by design and world view nothing else. The premise is serious stuff. Sharukh Khan is a great actor, he played an autistic Muslim who travel the continent with one mission, to meet the president and to clarify based on his wife request that not all Muslims are terrorist, obviously not him nor his dead son, victim caused by the race riot. . At this time he did another good job after Chukde India and Veer-Zara.

Thumbs up, by Samir Dave,. . Nevertheless, the film and especially Khan hold on to their integrity through conviction and warmheartedness. Also the thunderstorm in the pre-climax only dilutes the impact and could clearly have been averted. Thumbs down, by Deepa Gahlot,. The film clearly works better in the first half. .

The un-necessary focus on media coverage and political references takes away the emotional essence of the story, making the viewer a little uninterested. Sad though that no one was ever arrested for the crime, but it wasn't for lack of trying here. Instead of being allowed to play the stereotype of nurturing mother, she has to become the angry avenger who must seek justice. . He has defined a new genre of candy-floss cinema, which I can tolerate maybe, but never quite applaud. .

This movie isn't a copy of New York or Kurbaan as people say. Rizwan Khan is without a doubt my most favourite character from any film. And there is zero-tolerance for that. His highs are your highs. . There is no religion in his world only good people and bad people! First things first it ain't a typical bollywood masala flick! At the moment she arrives, Rizwan is stabbed by one of Faisal Rehman's followers who accuses him of being a traitor to Islam, and is hospitalized.

Rizwan may not have a quip like Gump's chocolates, but here he stresses from the onset, that his name is Khan, and he's not a terrorist, with childlike earnestness and honesty, in a film of almost an equal stature in its epicness. . The real action starts post intermission, which also leads to major glitches in the screenplay. . Shah Rukh Khan, would then be Shah Rukh Khan. The characters stay with you for a long time even after you leave the theater.
